Columbus BridgeTherapy for “Instant Teeth”

Monday, June 2nd, 2014

For those patients who would like a more immediate solution to the problem of complete tooth loss, Simon Hill is now offering the innovative Columbus Bridge treatment option to patients from all over Wales and beyond. The cutting edge technique, relatively new to the British market was developed in Italy, where Simon Hill was trained in the procedure.

The treatment offers patients the same reliable, fixed and long-term solution as traditional implants but they are able to walk away with new fixed teeth in as little as 24-48 hours. This means that even in the short term, patients can avoid the need for a removable denture altogether.

The key to this treatment is in the planning; all patients are required to undergo a CT scan of the jaw which is used to assess bone density & volume and to ensure accurate placement of the implants. A minimum of 4 implants is required but more may be used where deemed clinically necessary. The implants are then restored with teeth that also provide immediate stability. This enables them to support the bespoke made fixed bridge straight away. Impressions are taken the same day and sent to our expert dental technician, who manufactures your quality bridge immediately for fitting within 24-48 hours of surgery.

As with many other dental procedures, patients will need to follow a soft food diet initially and following a period to allow the tissues to heal, further impressions will be taken and a final  custom made bridge will be fitted, offering patients permanent, fully functioning “new teeth”.

If you feel this treatment might be of benefit to you or if you would like some further information, please contact the practice for further details or to make an appointment for a no obligation consultation. Prices start from around £12,000 for a full arch but following a consultation Simon Hill will provide a personalised treatment plan and full cost estimate.

Meet Simon Hill and his Associate Dentists

Simon Hill BDS Dip Imp Dent RCS (Eng) GDC No 72727

Simon HillHaving grown up in Llantwit Major, this historic town in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan was the obvious location for Simon Hill to open his Implant and General Dental Practice.  The town also provided the springboard for Simon’s professional rugby career and he went on to play for Cardiff and won 12 caps for Wales.  Simon is still very much involved in rugby in the local community, coaching the Llantwit Major RFC  First XV.

Simon qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 1996 and has gone on to build up a very successful general practice. He developed his skills in providing the highest standard of aesthetic dentistry  before concentrating on the placement and restoration of dental implants. He has completed the Diploma in Implantology with the Royal College of Surgeons and has an advanced certificate in hard tissue augmentation.  Simon has over 8 years experience placing implants and implant retained restorations,  ranging from simple tooth replacement to complex full mouth rehabilitation including the new Columbus Bridge treatment which provides patients with restorations in just 24 hours.  You can read his patients’ comments on the Testimonials page. He is a fully trained sedationist and also  lectures and acts as a mentor for other dentists interested in developing their skills in implantology. Simon also is a trainer for newly qualified dentists whom he mentors at Wyndham House during their initial year of practising dentistry.

Simon Stokes BDS MFDS GDC No 103804

Simon StokesAssociate Dentist Simon Stokes proved so popular with our patients that his appointment book is now at capacity.  Simon originally comes from County Limerick in Ireland and his previous experience has been in both hospital and private and NHS practices in Ireland and Scotland.  Simon is married and lives with his wife in Cardiff.

Here at Wyndham House Simon is currently seeing a mixture of patients both within and outside the NHS. He is particularly interested in cosmetic dentistry, offering patients a wide range of treatments including tooth whitening, ceramic crowns, veneers, bridge-work and high-end dentures. Alongside this Simon is delivering general dentistry such as replacing amalgam fillings with more aesthetic composite (white) solutions. Simon has a proactive approach to preventative dentistry and is especially dedicated to working with our hygienists to promote good oral hygiene practise with the children registered at the Practice.

When he’s not busy maintaining the oral health of Vale residents, Simon will most likely be found exercising or watching some sporting activity.  He’s a fan of both rugby (so far still supporting Ireland but we live in hope) and football and keeps himself fit by running, skiing and visiting the gym.
